Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a key component of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), a holistic healthcare system that originated in ancient China. In TCM, health is viewed as a balance of vital energy or "qi" flowing through meridians in the body. Acupuncture involves inserting thin needles into specific points along these meridians to stimulate and balance the flow of qi.

This stimulation is believed to help balance the body's energy, alleviate pain, and improve overall well-being. Acupuncture is often used to address various health conditions, and its effectiveness is thought to result from the restoration of energy balance within the body. It is commonly utilized for pain management, stress reduction, and supporting general health. What to expect:

During an acupuncture treatment, you can expect to lie comfortably while thin, sterile needles are gently inserted into specific points on your body. The process is generally painless, and many people experience a deep sense of relaxation.

Post-treatment recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of the therapy include:

  • Hydration: Drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated, which supports the body's natural processes.
  • Rest: Allowing time for rest and relaxation to help the body integrate the acupuncture treatment and promote overall well-being.
  • Dietary Considerations: A balanced and nourishing diet to support the body's energy balance and recovery.
  • Avoidance of Stimulants:  Excessive stimulants like caffeine or strenuous activities might counteract the calming effects of acupuncture.
  • Observation of Symptoms: Paying attention to any changes or improvements in symptoms and communicating them to your provider for ongoing personalized care.
